This document is the official complaint of Reichsführer-SS and Head of the Police Heinrich Himmler to a high-ranking SS or NSDAP official of the name Krüger and about a SS-Standartenführer Hammer in the Warthegau. Himmler complains that Hammer isn’t taking his job serious enough and is going hunting too often instead. Himmler orders Krüger to tell Hammer that during war times he is granted only two days or evenings per month to go hunting in the months June to December. Lieber Krüger !

Ich habe im Warthegau festgestellt, daß SS-Standartenführer Hammer, der dort das Bodenamt hatte, nicht den Fleiß entwickelt hat, den ich von ihm erwarten konnte. Die Eintragungen des Grund und Boden im Grundbuch auf den Reichskommissar liegen sehr im Argen. Ich habe den Einrcuk, daß H. bequem war und zu oft auf Jagd gegangen war.

Ich ersuche H. mitzuteilen, daß ich ihm jetzt während des Krieges für die Monate Juni bis Dezember pro Monat nicht mehr als zwei Jagdtage bzw. –abende genehmige.

Dear Krüger,

I have observed in the Warthegau that SS-Standartenführer Hammer—who was in charge of the Land Office there—did not display the level of diligence I had expected of him. The registration of land and property in the land register in the name of the Reich Commissioner is in a very poor state. I have the impression that Hammer was complacent and went hunting too often.

Please inform Hammer that, for the duration of the war, I am limiting his hunting activities to no more than two days or evenings per month for the period from June to December.
