VERY INTERESTING ORIGINAL 1941 YEARBOOK DEUTSCHE REICHSBANK

SKU: W45 Category:

The Reichsbank (Reich Bank) was founded in 1876 and since the National Soci-alist seizure of power in 1933 the Nazi Party also more and more controlled the German State bank. In 1937 a law reestablished the Reich government’s control of the Reichsbank. In 1939 the Reichsbank was renamed into Deutsche Reichs-bank (German Reich Bank) and placed under the direct control of Adolf Hitler. Reichsbank Presidents during the Third Reich were Hjalmar Schacht from 1933 to 1939 and Walther Funk as the last president of the Reichsbank from 1939 to 1945. The defeat of Nazi Germany in May 1945 also resulted in the dissolution of the Reichsbank, along with other Reich ministries and institutions. One of the greatest Third Reich related mysteries still today is the whereabouts of great parts of the Reichsbank gold reserves that disappeared in 1945.

The 5-3/4 x 8-1/4 inch, 535 pages soft cover book was published 1941 in the revi-sed second edition (1st edition was published 1938), printed by the Reichsbank printing division (probably the same who printed the Reichsmark). This very comprehensive book is not a photo book but a very helpful reference for anyone who wants to find out more about the structure of the Nazi German Reichsbank. The cover and back show some wear but the binding is tight and there are no lose or missing pages.
