ORIGINAL 1940 ASSIGNMENT ORDER FOR SS-HAUPTSTURMFÜHRER DR. JOSEPH MENGELE SIGNED BY
SS-OBERFÜHRER KARL GENZKEN
At the time SS-Untersturmführer Dr. Joseph Mengele was ordered by the head of the Sanitätsamt der Waffen-SS, Karl Genzken to report to the Rasse- und Siedlungshauptamt Abt. Sip. II on 4 November 1940 14:00 hrs. The ‘Aktennotiz’ was sent to the RSHA in Berlin and bears Genzken’s original signature. Genzken was a physician, SS-Oberführer and throughout the entire was head of the SS-Sanitätsamt. In this functuion he was directly involved in medical experiments on concentration camp inmates from various camps. He was sentenced to life in prison in the Nuremberg SS Physicians Trial but released from Landsberg prison as early as 1954.
