A HEAVILY ILLUSTRATED DOCUMENTATION OF THE GERMAN POLICE UNITS IN THE EAST THAT WERE FOLLOWING THE WEHRMACHT AND WAFFEN-SS TO SECURE THE OCCUPIED TERRITORIES
The 7-3/4 x 10-1/2 inch, 64 page soft cover book was written by Hauptmann der Schutzpolizei der Reserve Hans Richter and published 1943 by Zentralverlag der NSDAP, Franz Eher in Munich. The book is a documentation of the activities of the SS Police units in Russia in the summer of 1941. The book has only very little text, it is more a Heinrich Hoffmann – like photo book, showing Nazi Police cleaning out resistance in occupied towns, Police round-up of the Jewish quarters, including photos of Ordnungspolizei breaking into the synagogue and the removal of Jews and their belongings. Other photos show SS and Nazi Police leaders such as Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler and Generaloberst der Polizei, Kurt Daluege. Also documented is the seizing of weapons in an occupied Russian village, the Lithuanian Auxiliary Police, destroyed Russian tanks, the questioning of captured Russians and much more! The German Police became a part of the SS in 1935 and many people think about the so called Einsatzgruppen, the feared Police death squads when they hear about the German Police units in the east. Few copies of this book have survived. The copy that is offered for sale is in very good condition.
