ORIGINAL PRE-1945 JAPANESE ABRIDGED EDITION OF ADOLF HITLER’S ‘MEIN KAMPF’

This is a summery version of the Japanese version of Mein Kampf. The full version of Mein Kampf has so many pages that there was a condensed version like this. At that time, the Asahi Shimbun Company – one of the largest Japanese newspaper companies – published a large number of such pamphlets. The editor/translator was a man named Shichiro Okuno. He was a scholar fluent in English and German, and in addition to translating German literature, he seems to have been involved in the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ translation of Mein Kampf as well.

Mein Kampf was translated into numerous languages and since Japan was Hitler-Germany’s ally, it was only natural that a Japanese edition would be published. Very few of the surviving Japanese editions have ever left Japan and come up for sale.
