Offered for sale is this original pre-1945 document, signed by SS-Hauptsturmführer Otto Hunsche. He was a German lawyer and government councilor in the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA). As a member of the Sonderkommando Eichmann, Hunsche was instrumental in the deportation of Jews in Hungary and was therefore sentenced to twelve years in prison in 1969 by a West German court. After finding employment with the Gestapo in 1939, he worked from 1940 at the Gestapo control center in Berlin and soon afterwards as deputy head of the Düsseldorf Gestapo. From November 1941 on he worked as a representative head of the department and since fall of 1942 as a department head in the so-called Eichmann department (IV B 4b – law) of the RSHA under Adolf Eichmann. His tasks included legal issues, in particular the deprivation of citizenship and confiscation of the property of the deportation victims. Hunsche, who was authorized to wear the uniform of a SS Hauptsturmführer, was a participant in one of the follow-up conferences of the Wannsee Conference on the “Final Solution of the Jewish Question” in the RSHA in October 1942.

From March to November 1944, Hunsche was a member of the Sonderkommando Eichmann,which had the task of “eliminating and concentrating the Hungarian Jews from public life, then deporting them and destroying them with the exception of those who were fully capable of working.”

In the document that bears Hunsche’s original signature he notifies (probably the SS-Hauptamt) that he was awarded the Wehrsportabzeichen and the Reichssportabzeichen. He also added by hand his NSDAP membership number (4877864).
