SS-OBERSTURMBANNFüHRER BRUNO MÜLLER
SS-Obersturmbannführer Bruno Müller was head of a department in the RSHA, commanded the Einsatzkommando (mobile killing squad) 2/1 in occupied Poland, then Sonderkommando 11b in Russia and was head of the SiPo and SD in Krakow, Rouen, Prague and last in Kiel.
Sonderkommando 11b, led by Müller, was part of the Einsatzgruppe D under Otto Ohlendorf and the group reported 92,000 murdered civilians to Berlin by the end of 1941. In a trial in 1962 a former SS member gave the following statement: , Müller first approached a Jewish woman who carried a child that was around 3 years old and said to her: you have to die so that we can live. He then pulled out his gun and first shot the child, then the mother.’
In 1947 he was apprehended by the Allies and put on trial as a war criminal in December 1947, was sentenced to 20 years of hard labor, but was released 5 years later due to amnesty laws. He died of natural causes in 1960 at the age of 54, after having worked as a salesman in West Germany for the remainder of his life.
