A smaller but nonetheless significant rendering of a Vienna courtyard similar in composition to “The Old Residency in Munich” done sometime later. Here, the pattern is set, the method, the angle of the sun and the interplay between the clouds in the blue sky, the purpling shadows and the texture of the Gothic building. The artist has rendered a complex structural narrative into a pleasant sunlit scene. In the original Altenberg neo-Biedermeier frame, this piece is extraordinary. The seller guarantees the authenticity and comes with Certificate of Authenticity of the previous owner, Mr. S. Pastore, who was author of three books on Adolf Hitler artwork and recognized authority in the field of Hitler’s art.
The watercolor comes in its original frame from Jakob Altenberg, Vienna, a well-known Jewish framer who dealt in Adolf Hitler’s artwork.
