Offered for sale is this rare original 1942 document, signed by (at the time) SS-Sturmbannführer Oskar Dirlewanger. He was founder and commander of the SS penal unit ‘Dirlewanger’ and his name is linked to some of the worst crimes of the war. He was extremely cruel, sadistic and cold blooded and Himmler was impressed by his horrible acts that he awarded him the German Cross in Gold. Anything signed by him is extremely rare and this is only the second original Dirlewanger signed document we had the privilege to offer. Dirlewanger signed this document in Krakau (Krakow), a town in German occupied Poland on 1 March 1942. The document was sent to the SS and Police leader in Krakow and Dirlewanger confirms the receipt of the dog tags and ID books for the members of the SS-Sonderbataillon that was named after him. Signed by Oskar Dirlewanger in black fountain pen. The signature is very clear.
