Offered for sale is a very interesting piece of National Socialist propaganda: a 6 x 8-1/4 inch, 250-page hardcover book for German children on Adolf Hitler’s life, political career and his achievements, as well as very anti-Semitic portrayal of the Jews. The book contains 57 illustrations, it was written by Johanna Haarer and published in 1939 by J.F. Lehmanns Verlag in Munich/Berlin. The book is written like a fairy tale book with ‘bedtime stories’ that the mother would read to her little children. The book starts out with a description of the bad conditions in Germany after World War One, including negative prejudices against Jews and other ‘undesirables’ who should be expelled from Germany, and goes on describing Hitler as the semi-God who came to save Germany. The book ends with a call to join the Hitler Youth and/or BDM. An important example of indoctrination of little children in Nazi Germany.
