Commandant of Ghetto Litzmannstadt SS-Obersturmbannführer Karl Schulz lot
Schulz was an early party member, Old Fighter, membership number: 22,175, Gau Inspector Westphalia-Nord; Reichstag member, friend of Himmler, nevertheless expelled from the SS in 1934 for boasting and boozing, reinstated in the SS in 1937 as Obersturmbannführer, but no longer promoted after that, commander of the Litzmanndstadt Ghetto from 1942, commander of a partisan combat unit from 1944, went into hiding under a false name after 1945
Included are:
- his “Passport for the Occupied Eastern Territories”, stating the party number
- his letter of enlistment from SS Abschnitt (Section) XVII
- a letter from the NAPOLA inspector from 1940, SS-Obergruppenführer August Heissmeyer, with his ink signature; Heissmeyer refers to an application letter from Schulz for full-time work in the SD; Heissmeyer reports that he forwarded the application letter to the head of the SiPo and the SD, Reinhard Heydrich
- an original photo of him showing him on the way to the Reichstag session (unpublished)
- a handwritten 4-page letter from 1943 from Schulz to his wife in the original envelope, with a stamp from the 2nd SS Police Regiment
- a letter from the Reich Minister for the Occupied Eastern Territories dated March 11, 1942 to Schulz, in which he was offered to take on a position as regional commissioner in the eastern territories, signed by Bigenwaldt (head of the Slutsk Jewish Action) Slutsk massacre – Wikipedia
- a letter from the NSDAP Gau-Westphalia North Gau leadership from 1942, in which Gauleiter Alfred Meyer announced that after military service he could not expect to be employed in the Gau leadership, signed by Gauamtsleiter August Mietz
Historically extremely interesting grouping. There is no other information about Schulz, who went into hiding after the war.
