This document, signed by Adolf Eichmann was sent by him on 7 May 1940 to a SS physician SS-Untersturmführer Dr. Schmidt.

Eichmann participated in the January 1942 Wannsee Conference, at which the implementation of the genocidal Final Solution to the Jewish Question was planned. Following this, he was tasked by SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich with facilitating and managing the logistics involved in the mass deportation of millions of Jews to Nazi ghettos and Nazi extermination camps across German-occupied Europe. He was captured and detained by the Allies in 1945 but escaped and eventually settled in Argentina. In May 1960, he was tracked down and apprehended by Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency and put on trial before the Supreme Court of Israel. The highly publicized Eichmann trial resulted in his conviction in Jerusalem, following which he was executed by hanging in 1962.

I heard that you called me in Prague some time ago and that you were informed that I would call you regarding my presence in Vienna on May 3, 1940. I was only in Vienna for about an hour and a half on May 3, 1940, and in the hustle and bustle I forgot to call, for which I apologize. Regarding your Protectorate matter, there has unfortunately been a delay, as the Commander of the Security Police and the SD, Oberführer Dr. Stahlecker, has left, and all matters that are not truly urgent must be postponed at the moment I am sorry, Comrade Schmidt, that I cannot give you more favorable news at the moment, but in view of our current activities, there is simply no other way. However, postponed is not cancelled, and so I confidently hope that when the most urgent work subsides, we will be able to can be helpful in actively supporting you in achieving your goal. My family is in Prague. My wife suddenly had to undergo a throat operation and was able to leave the clinic after three days.
