RARE ORIGINAL THIRD REICH

‘JUDE’ STAR OF DAVID

THE JEWS WERE FORCED TO WEAR THESE IN GERMAN OCCUPIED BULGARIA

A RARE HISTORIC ITEM WITH FULL MONEY BACK GUARANTEE FOR AUTHENTICITY

This historic piece is a symbol of the darkest chapter in Germany’s history: A Yellow Star of David button, which the Bulgarian Jews were forced to wear from 1941 on with the onset of the German occupation. Two versions of these Bulgarian stars were produced, one in Bakelite which all have a black backside, and a less common celluloid variant like the one offered here. The seller gives full money back guarantee for authenticity and provides a Certificate of Authenticity on request.

Despite widespread and determined opposition to anti-Jewish legislation, the Bulgarian government issued a directive to wear the Jewish star on 26 August 1942.

Unlike the cloth badges used in other countries, in Bulgaria the distinctive badge was a small yellow plastic button in the shape of a Star of David. However, due to the resistance of the general public and the church, the law was not enforced rigorously and only about one fifth of Bulgarian Jews obeyed the directive. One of the pictures show a Jewish girl of the name Rachel Baruch wearing the Yellow Star button on her clothing, Bulgaria, 1943 (photo not included).
