The 7 x 9 inch, complete wall calendar was published in 1940 by order of the Reichskolonialbund, the Nazi organization for Germans living abroad in the former German colonies in Africa. The title says it all, it translates: ‘German land in foreign hand’. After the end of World War One, when Germany had to admit to having lost the war, the German colonies in Africa, Deutsch-Ostafrika, Deutsch Suedwestafrika, Kamerun, Togo, Samoa and Deutsch-Neuguinea were lost as well. But a large percentage of the Germans living there were Nazi supporters or sympathizers and of course they were not forgotten. The many photos in this wall calendar give a glimpse of what live was like for the German minorities in the former German colonies. A rare item in very good condition.
