WRITTEN BY AN AMERICAN WHO LIVED IN NAZI GERMANY AND LOVED IT
The hard-to-find book was written by American Stanley McClatchie and published in 1937 by the Heinrich Hoffmann Verlag in Berlin. McClatchie lived in Germany in the early 1930’s. He returned to Germany at the time of the 1936 Olympic Games. Nazi Germany had in the meantime become a strong nation and McClatchie was impressed by what all had changed and was improved in such short time. The book contains about 300 photographs and until Germany and the USA were at war (Dec 1941), a German and an English language edition was published. Most American copies were discarded by their owners after Hitler declared war against the United States to not be mistaken as a Nazi sympathizer and not very many German copies survived either.
