SS-Obergruppenführer & General der Polizei as well as Höherer SS- und Polizeiführer ‘Ostland’ Friedrich Jeckeln signed letter. Jeckeln wrote this letter on his official letterhead on 10 January 1943 and sent it to no other than to Kurt Daluege, chief of the Ordnungspolizei and forever infamous as Heydrich’s successor and for the Lidice massacre. This is a ‘thank you” letter for a donation (probably of some ‘goodies’) for Julfest (Christmas), sent by Daluege for Jeckeln and his staff. At the end of the war, SS-Oberst-Gruppenführer und Generaloberst der Polizei Daluege was arrested and extradited to Czechoslovakia, where he was tried and convicted for crimes against humanity. He was sentenced to death and executed by hanging in October 1946.
Friedrich Jeckeln (2 February 1895 – 3 February 1946) was a German SS commander during the Nazi era. He served as a Higher SS and Police Leader in the occupied Soviet Union during World War II. Jeckeln was the commander of one of the largest collection of Einsatzgruppen death squads and was personally responsible for ordering and organizing the deaths of over 100,000 Jews, Romani and others designated by the Nazis as “undesirables”. After the end of World War II in Europe, Jeckeln was convicted of war crimes by a Soviet military tribunal in Riga and executed in 1946. [source: Wikipedia]
