ORIGINAL 1940 U-BOAT ACE GÜNTHER PRIEN SCAPA FLOW PHOTO BOOK

‘MEIN WEG NACH SCAPA FLOW’

The 6 x 9 inch, 260-page hardcover photo book was written by Günther Prien, one of Nazi Germany’s most famous U-Boat commanders, published in 1940 by Deutscher Verlag, shortly after Prien’s bold and courageous coup to sneak into the bay of Scapa Flow and sunk the British battleship ‘HMS Royal Oak’ and damaging a second ship, then safely escaping and making it back home. Prien and the crew of U-47 were paraded through Berlin before Prien received the Knights Cross from the hands of Adolf Hitler. Prien was the first Kriegsmarine member who received this award. U-47 went missing on 7 March 1941 while attacking convoy OB-293. The boat was sunk by the British destroyer “HMS Wolverine’ west of Ireland and all men aboard were lost. The book is in very good condition and comes with its original dust jacket.
