The 7 x 9-3/4 inch, 120 page hardcover book by Hans Biallas was published in 1940 by Verlag Paul Schmidt in Berlin and is in very good condition. The book is an interesting photo documentation of something the Nazis created that could not be found in any other country in the world at the time: affordable cruises for the average German worker to destinations in Norway, Madeira, Italy, Africa and Greece! The Kraft durch Freude (KdF or Strength Through Joy) organization had a small fleet of cruise ships that were built just for that. One of these cruise ships, the Wilhelm Gustloff, came to gruesome fame in 1945 when it was sunk by a Russian submarinen the Baltic Sea, filled with thousands of refugees and wounded soldiers who tried to get away from the advancing Red Army.
