ORIGINAL 1933 THIRD REICH PHOTO BOOK ON THE NAZI SEIZURE
‘VOM 30 JANUAR ZUM 21 MÄRZ’
THIS IS THE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND VERSION WITH THE TWO SHELLAC DISCS
WITH THE HISTORIC SPEECH THAT ADOLF HITLER HELD AND WHICH WAS BROADCASTED
BY THE REICHSRUNDFUNK ON THE DAY HE CAME TO POWER IN 1933
Vom 30. Januar zum 21. März or “From January 30 to March 21”, subtitled “Die Tage der nationalen Erhebung” or “The Days of the National Uprising”, is the title of this wonderful photo book by Erich Czech-Jochberg, published in 1933 by Verlag “Das Neue Deutschland” in Leipzig, Germany. The oversize hardcover book is 11 x 12-3/4 inches with 152 pages of high-quality glossy paper. The blue linen hardcover, the ornaments on the cover and back as well as the rest of the book are in excellent condition. It definitely is one of the best (or the best?) original Third Reich photo books on the Nazi seizure of power in the Germany of 1933. Two versions were published in 1933, the more common one without discs and the (today) very rare issue which had two shellac discs which were stored in a pocket at the end of the book with the historic January, 31 1933 Adolf Hitler speech. Offered here is a very nice copy of the version with both shellac discs that contain Adolf Hitler’s first speech as Chancellor. Both original discs are in excellent condition and look as if they were played maybe once or twice, basically as new.
The 30th of January 1933 was the day when Hitler won the election and the 21st of March 1933 was the first day the Reichstag opened with the NSDAP and Hitler as the leading party (which became the only party, very soon…)
There are 1 2 0 photos which alone tell the whole story, and which alone make it a unique reference guide for anyone interested in the early days of the National Socialist Movement. Some of them show Adolf Hitler holding his first speech as Reich Chancellor in front of the Reichstag as well as his first speech over the Reichsrundfunk. Radio broadcasting was a very important media for the Nazi regime because it made it possible to bring everything the important officials had to say to millions of German households. Hitler’s minister for propaganda, Dr. Joseph Goebbels started a special program that made it possible that most of the German households were able to afford a radio, the so called Volksempfänger (people’s radio).
