THE DOCUMENT IS THE COVER SHEET OF A REPORT ABOUT JEWISH ORGANIZATIONS IN VIENNA, SENT TO THE RSHA

This document, signed by Adolf Eichmann was sent from Vienna on 3 May 1939. Eichmann at the time was head of the SD Oberabschnitt (Main District) Donau. He was transferred to Vienna in 1938 shortly after the ‘Anschluss’ and he and his superior, Herbert Hagen, at the time were working on finding ways to encourage Jews to leave Germany and annexed Austria. The document is the cover sheet of a report about Jewish organizations in Vienna. Eichmann sent the report to the head of RSHA office ‘Zentralabteilung II/1’ (SS-Standartenführer Hermann Behrends). Eichmann left Vienna shortly after he signed this document and by that time nearly 100,000 Jews had left Austria legally.
