EXTREMELY RARE ORIGINAL 1938 OFFICIAL GUIDE TO THE ANTI-SEMITIC EXHIBITION

‘DER EWIGE JUDE’

(THE ETERNAL JEW)

Der Ewige Jude (The Eternal Jew) was an anti-Semitic exhibition that first opened in the German museum in Munich in November 1937 and ended in January 1938. The exhibition then moved to Vienna from August thru October 1938 and then from November 1938 thru January 1938 to Berlin. The exhibit showed photographs pointing out the typical “Jewish” features especially of political figures as well as stars from the movie and show business and a lot of so called Entartete Kunst (Degenerate Art) of Jewish sculptors and painters. It was the largest pre-war anti-Semitic exhibition in Nazi Germany. The exhibit attracted nearly 500,000 visitors. In 1940 Fritz Hippler produced a movie of the same title, consistently presenting the Jew as a parasite throughout the entire movie.

The 30-page photo guide was published in 1938 and is printed on high gloss quality paper. The condition is excellent.  This guide (and the book by Hans Diebow of the same title and with the same cover) has to be considered as one of the rarest anti-Semitic Third Reich publications and few copies have survived the de-Nazification after 1945. This guide rarely surfaces and copies have sold at auction for crazy numbers, way higher than our asking price. There is currently no other copy offered online anywhere else.
