Berndt and Wehrmacht Colonel Wedel, published by Verlagsanstalt Otto Stollberg, Berlin 1939 to 1944. The complete series of books contains the official Wehrmacht reports from every battlefield from Norway and Finland in the far north of Europe to the North African soil where Erwin Rommel’s famous Afrikakorps fought. The May/June 1944 volume was the last volume that was published before the series was discontinued. Each book contains the official Wehrmacht report, surveying and reporting about the various events and operations of all branches of the German Wehrmacht (Heer or Infantry / Luftwaffe / Panzertruppe or tank units / Kriegsmarine or Nazi Navy) as well as supporting organizations such as Technische Nothilfe or TeNo, Organisation Todt or OT (with excellent photos of the huge U-Boat bunkers at the Atlantic coast), Reichsarbeitsdienst or Reich Labor Service, WHW or Winter Relief, Reichsluftschutzbund or Reich Air Raid Protection as well as the many other organizations that supported the fighting troops. The first volume (Sep 1939) of course covers the Blitzkrieg against Poland, the subsequent volumes cover every battle in which the German Wehrmacht was involved: war in the West (France, Belgium, Denmark, Holland and Luxembourg), the actions in Norway and Finland, the war in southeast Europe (Yugoslavia, Greece, Crete, Malta, etc), the battles of the Afrikakorps, a lot on Naval Warfare including U-Boats, Speed Boats, etc. and of course everything in greatest detail about the war against Russia with on the minute reports of the major battles Crimea, Charkow, Stalingrad, Kursk, etc.! Each volume contains numerous glossy photo pages from various battles, every possible branch of the Wehrmacht as well as Knight Cross and Oak Leaves winners and much more, as well as Hitler and Goebbels speeches, politics of the Home Front and detailed campaign maps.
The 6-1/2 x 9 inch (165 x 230mm) hardcover books have thousands of interesting pages of official information released by the High Command of the German Wehrmacht! The overall condition of this unique series is nice, some volumes show some signs of wear, and the spine of the 1/1939 volume is damaged. All in all, a seldom seen, fantastic book set and probably the only book set published in Nazi Germany that covers Germany at war in such detail. A must-have for every historian or anyone interested in Nazi German warfare.
