This excellent book was written by Günter Elsner, an official in Hermann Görings Air State Ministry and Karl Gustav Lerche, Oberbannführer in the Reichs Youth Leadership.

The 6 x 8-1/2 inch hardcover book with 240 heavily illustrated pages is in very good condition. It was published in 1940 by the Central Publishing House of the NSDAP, Franz Eher Nachf. in Munich. The intention of this book was to recruit HJ boys for the service in the Luftwaffe (Air Force). It shows all the different career paths in the Luftwaffe, gives very detailed job descriptions on the duties of flying and ground personnel plus it contains a lot of information on different aircraft models, etc.! The National Socialists found a great way how to find the most suitable Hitler Youth candidates for the Luftwaffe in nationwide competitions on making and flying aircraft models. To get even better results the school laws were changed and the making of aircraft models became priority in handicraft classes in public schools throughout the nation. This is also described in detail in this interesting book which has lots of photos and illustrations.
