HE WAS THE BEARER OF THE SO CALLED ‘BLUTFAHNE’
SS-Standartenführer Jakob Grimminger is known for being the standard-bearer of the Blutfahne (Blood Flag), the blood-stained flag from the ‘Beer Hall Putsch’ in which Grimminger had also participated. It was the centerpiece flag of the Nazi movement’s ceremonies. Grimminger did not sign much, and his signature is among the hardest to find Third Reich signatures. Offered here is Jakob Grimminger’s signature in the book “Im neuen Anatolien” (In New Anatolia). Grimminger served on the Ottoman front during World War I and was a recipient of the “Turkish Crescent” medal—an award he is also seen wearing in several photographs.
A notable feature here is the original, vintage bookseller’s slip—dating from the 1950s or 1960s—which explicitly mentions the signature of the “Blood Flag” (Blutfahne) bearer. In excellent condition; authenticity guaranteed.
