HANS LISKA – MEIN SKIZZENBUCH
This rare 11-3/4 x 8-1/4 inch hardcover book by Hans Liska in excellent condition was published in 1944 by Verlag Dr. Burbank in Berlin. It features over 40 fantastic drawings and watercolors by Hans Liska, depicting the men and machines of the Luftwaffe, Heer and Kriegsmarine. The front cover and internal pages are all in great condition. Liska visited the Viennese college of arts and crafts under Alfred Scooter and was a student of Berthold Löfflers. Subsequently, he worked as a commercial advertising artist in Switzerland, then attended the Munich College of Arts and Crafts, and studied under Emil Prätorius and Walther Teutsch. Beginning in 1932 he drew pictorial newspapers for the citizens of Berlin, and in 1933 attended the Berlin Academy of Art as a student of Ferdinand Mirror. In 1939 his designs and works were published in many newspapers and books both local and abroad. His works stand out today in many publications and are normally known around such names as Oskar Kokoschka, Picasso, and Max Ernst. This publication is hard to find, especially in the last edition that came out in 1944.
