Offered here is a very nice original copy of the 1940 movie pamphlet of Lion Feuchtwanger’s 1925 novel “Jud Suess” with the Jew Oppenheimer as the main character. In 1934 a British film version of Feuchtwanger’s book was produced, and in 1940 the Nazis brought the Oppenheimer story to screen in the most notorious version of “The Jew Suess.” Directed by Veit Harlan, the movie presented Oppenheimer in the worst possible anti-Semitic light, as a greedy, power-hungry, Christian-hating schemer. Here, Oppenheimer is the sexual predator, preying on the pure Christian maidens of the duke’s court! It is said that Dr. Joseph Goebbels thought that the Nazi film version of “JUD SÜß’was the most efficient piece of cinematic propaganda the Nazis had produced.’ And Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler was so taken with the film that he ordered it shown throughout Eastern Europe to whip up support for anti-Jewish measures. Millions of Germans saw it. A very interesting original Third Reich item of historic significance.
