RARE 1940 FULL COLOR PHOTO BOOK KDF CRUISE ABOARD THE “ROBERT LEY”
‘NACH DEN GLÜCKLICHEN INSELN’
This 7-3/4 x 10-1/2 inches soft cover photo book is one of the finest original Third Reich books on the KdF cruises to foreign places the ordinary German worker could never think of visiting before the “Kraft durch Freude” (Strenght Through Joy) program was put in place by the Nazi regime! On 64 pages (with a full color photo on every second page) this excellent book shows what the German “Volksgenosse” saw and experienced when he/she booked a trip on the flagship of the KdF fleet, the “Robert Ley”. The book was published by order of the KdF by Karl Busch, published in 1940 by the Zeitgeschichte Verlag in Berlin, at a time when these cruises had been postponed since more than a year because of the outbreak of the war. This rare book comes with its almost undamaged original dust cover. It will make a great addition to anyones collection of historical KdF material. Just like its sister ship, the ‘Wilhelm Gustloff’, the ‘Robert Ley’ was used to evacuate Germans from the east in 1945 and was also sunk.
