This award was introduced on 1 May 1939 by decree of Adolf Hitler for achievements in the field of public welfare, the Winter Aid Fund (Winterhilfswerk or WHW), care of the sick and wounded in times of peace and war as well as for rescue services. The award came in the following five stages:

Honour for the German people care level I (four pointed breast star as a special stage)

Honour for the German people care level I (neck decoration)

Honour for the German people care level II ( plug cross )

Honour for the German people care III. Stage

Medal for the German people care

The medal and the ribbon are both original and in very good condition.
