ORIGINAL THIRD REICH DOCUMENT TO PROVE ‘ARYAN’ DESCENT
‘DER AHNENPASS’
If somebody applied for an official position or wanted to become an officer in the Wehrmacht, Navy or Luftwaffe it was mandatory to prove a pure Aryan blood line. Applicants for the SS and Waffen-SS of course had to do it, too. Also, if you wanted to become a member of the NSDAP you had to prove your Aryan ancestry. The “Ahnenpass” (ancestors’ passport) was either a softcover document of 48 pages or a hard cover booklet with usually also 48 pages. There was an even more rare hard cover with 82 pages which had a fold-out ancestry chart (Ahnentafel) in the back.
All entries in these documents had to be notarized either from the church registrar or the municipal office. There were two different kinds of family tree documents in the Third Reich. The first one is the Familien-Stammbuch which is a simpler family tree document. The “Ahnenpass” was the Nazi version of the same document with the purpose to prove the Aryan ancestry of just one person. An important addition for anyone’s collection of Third Reich Racial studies material and/or collection of National Socialist documents.
This document was issued to a Lieselotte Schöndorf in Gusternhain and has many entries, reaching back many years.
