This excellent 8-1/2 x 12 inch hardcover book was published in 1941 by order of the High Command of the Afrikakorps. On 214 very interesting and heavily illustrated pages this book gives back the battles, victories and experiences of the Afrikakorps in its first year on North African soil after Mussolini asked Hitler for military aid against the British Expeditionary Forces. There are countless full page illustrations in this wonderful book which was “Band I” (volume one) of a planned series on the Afrikakorps which was never continued. This volume was the only one that was ever published. The text is in German and Italian so that this book could have also become a remembrance book for the Italian soldier who fought together with the German Afrikakorps against the British, and towards the end of the campaign, against American troops.
