‘URLAUBSFAHRTEN ZUR SEE – NS-GEMEINSCHAFT KRAFT DURCH FREUDE’
“Urlaubsfahrten zur See” was the motto of the Nazi ‘Strength Through Joy’ cruises that were made available for the ordinary people – something unheard of before 1933! Offered here is this big NS-Gemeinschaft “Kraft durch Freude” lot of a Friedrich Ihle from Chemnitz who went on a KdF cruise on the KdF ship ‘Sierra Cordoba’ from 18 July to 24 July 1937 starting from Bremerhaven. The interesting lot consists of the ticket for the cruise, the participant identification card, the six daily itineraries for each day of the cruise, including the meals served for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as the entertainment aboard (which, of course, contained a lot of political indoctrination), a luggage sticker with the name of the ship as well as a 1937 issue of the KdF periodical that was distributed aboard the ship! Pretty much a complete documentation of a 1937 KdF cruise.
