the album is one of the commonly used, very nice official Third Reich albums for soldiers, entitled Ehren-Chronik (Honor Chronicle). The first section contains a lot of interesting information about the struc-ture of the German armed forces, their leaders and awards (see be-low), followed by 50 cardboard-like pages for pictures. This soldier used them all up, there are photos and memorabilia (see photos below) on every page. Please note the attached Panzertruppe death head.

RARE ORIGINAL PHOTO ALBUM FROM THE MEMBER OF THE THIRD REICH PANZER RECONNAISSANCE UNIT

1. (Pz.Sp.) Schwadron Aufklärungs-Abteilung 6

(1st Tank Reconnaissance Platoon of the Reconnaissance Unit 6)

WITH A TOTAL OF 210 PHOTOS PLUS POSTCARDS, FLYERS AND A STACK OF NEGATIVES, DOCUMENTING THIS SOLDIERS CAREER BEFORE AND DURING THE WAR IN THE PANZERTRUPPE!

This album is one of the finest original, unaltered Third Reich photo albums that we had since a long time. It belonged to a member of a tank reconn unit who must have been from a German family of soldiers (see photo below). The album docu-ments in great detail the military career of this individual, starting with training, the vehicles they had in his unit (the new delivered Panzerspähwagen, Kübel-wagen, motorcycles, among others), the field trainings he participated in, then goes on with photos of the Blitzkrieg in Poland, the war in the west and even some that appear to be taken in Russia.

The 1. (Pz.Sp.) Schwadron Aufklärungs-Abteilung 6 was part of the Kraftfahr-Abtei-lung Münster which was activated on October 1, 1934 in Münster (Westphalia), part of Wehrkreis VI. The Aufklärungs-Abteilung 6 (AA 6) became part of the 2. Kraftfahr-Kampf-Brigade but was renamed into Aufklärungs-Abteilung (motorisiert / motorized) 6 on October 15, 1935. 1937 the AA 6 was placed under the command of the 1. Leichte Brigade and in 1938 under the command of the 1. Leichte Division. The AA 6 then was moved to Krefeld (there are rubber stamps on some field post letters and from the training facilities in Krefeld in this album). In the fall of 1939 the AA 6 became part of 6. Panzer-Division.

please note the Panzertruppe uniform and insignia

the last page contains two pasted in envelopes with original negatives, great for anyone who might be interested in reproducing some of the photos!
