The 6-1/2 x 9-3/8 inch, 20 pages booklet was published in 1936 (in probably a very small number of copies) by the Nordland Verlag, the SS owned publishing house. It was intended to be a remembrance booklet of a historic SS event that took place on July 2, 1936. Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler invited the creme-de-la-creme of Nazi officials to the Quedlinburg castle to commemorate one of the greatest historic figures in German history: King Heinrich I. who reigned from 919 to 936 and who is said to be the founder of the “Erstes Reich” (First Reich). The occasion of this event was the 1,000th anniversary of Heinrich I.’s death. Heinrich Himmler regarded himself as the reincarnation of Heinrich I.! This extremely hard to find booklet gives some historical background and contains the speech that Himmler held plus a number of excellent and seldom seen SS photographs. It also comes with the original 1-1/2 x 2 inch medal that was minted to commemorate this event. The medal is extremely rare and we know that originals are offered for up to $5,000.00, if one surfaces.
