According to the “Reichserbhofgesetz” (Reich Hereditary Farm Law) from September 29, 1933, the strictly Aryan farm could only go into the possession of the oldest son if he was able to prove his Aryan origin back to at least the year 1800. These signs were displayed from 1933 to 1945 only! After the Third Reich had ended these Erbhof signs were taken down and, in most cases, discarded, probably only a few originals still exist today! The 8 x 10-inch cast iron sign with the “Odalsrune” (Odal rune) and the word “Erbhof” is in nice condition. At some point it has been repainted by a previous owner.
