ORIGINAL ADOLF HITLER WATERCOLOR FROM HIS VIENNA PERIOD

IN THE ORIGINAL FRAME OF THE JEWISH FRAMER FROM VIENNA SAMUEL MORGENSTERN

‘SIX VIEWS OF THE JOURNEY TO THE FAMILY MANOR’

CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY FROM S. PASTORE AND FULL MONEY BACK GUARANTEE FOR AUTHENTICITY

No matter if one is an art historian, collector, connoisseur, WW II scholar or simply a curious onlooker at the world of Hitler’s career as an artist, we often forget that virtually every piece he created in the period before his rise to political power was created to enhance the sale of picture frames, not art. The framer of this work, which we call “Six views of the Journey to the Family Manor” clearly needed to demonstrate a new technique in framing: the housing of multiple images within the borders of one frame. This particular piece tells a narrative of a carriage journey over lovely country roads to a pristine manor house and its agricultural outbuildings. Hitler gladly, no doubt, provided the six postcard size watercolors for this unique way of displaying the framer’s talents. After all, he had spent years painting postcards for Viennese tourists. However, without much of “stretch”, it is easy to see how narrative serial pictures are an early form of “graphic novel” or even a precursor to motion pictures. Each vignette is a fine and atmospheric representation of a gentleman’s journey to his beautiful home, the scenes changing as the trip proceeds. The only known serial paintings by Hitler that have remained together through the decades; perhaps the only set created by him. Six little vignettes that AH produced so the framer could show off a new style of framing! Multiple paintings/images in one frame!! Each small painting is signed and is 3.5″ x 5.5″.  Clearly the idea of a framer–a unique and artistic presentation in 1908. Of major importance, confiscated from the Jewish framer Morgenstern. Samuel Morgenstern was one of three Jewish framers who purchased most of Hitler’s art in his Vienna period.

The seller guarantees the authenticity and comes with Certificate of Authenticity of the previous owner, Mr. S. Pastore, who was author of three books on Adolf Hitler artwork and recognized authority in the field of Hitler’s art.
