The Tank Combat Badge (German: Panzerkampwagenabzeichen) is a German military award instituted on 20 December 1939 by the High Commander of the German Wehrmacht, Generaloberst Walther von Brauchitsch. In 1940 the name was changed into "Panzerkampfabzeichen". The badge was designed by Ernst Peekhaus in Berlin. It was for officers and enlisted men from armored units. Receipients of this decorations were tank commanders, tank driver, tank radiomen and tank gunner who had to have a minimum of three tank battles on three different days.
