SS FIELD POST SENT FROM NORMANDY BATTLEGROUND

THIS GUY WAS RIGHT IN THE MIX OF THE ACTION SHORTLY AFTER D-DAY

This truly is an interesting field post letter, sent by SS Sturmmann Fritz Dettl to his mother, thanking her for her letter and that he can respond right away because he is laying under the armored personnel carrier since hours, hammered by enemy artillery. He writes that he is amazed how much ammunition they must have at their disposal and that she does not have to be worried that he is starving because the French left everything behind when the battles began. He wrote the letter from Normandy, 5 weeks after the Allied landings on the beaches.
