Wilhelm Schepmann, last SA-Stabschef (Head of the SA) after the death of Viktor Lutze on 2 May 1943 introduced the Wehrabzeichen für Kriegsversehrte or SA Military Sports Badge for War Wounded in October of 1943. The reason was Schepmann’s concern about the physical and mental well being of SA men who had been wounded in the war. Its design was closely based on the SA Military Sports Badge. It is RZM maker marked on the backside with embossed RZM code ‘M1/100’ which stands for the company Werner Redo in Saarlautern.
