there is a signature H Himmler on the first inner page plus the date 16 February 1938. We were unable to determine if this is a real signature or not. If so this rare book will be worth even more!

Interesting photo from the time when the NSDAP and its organizations (including the SA) were declared illegal: 50 stormtroopers from Berlin marched by foot to Nuremberg to attend the 1927 Reich Party Days.

EINE BRAUNE ARMEE ENTSTEHT

(THE RISE OF A BROWN ARMY)

A FANTASTIC BOOK ON THE ORIGINS OF THE STORMTROOPERS IN BERLIN AND BRANDENBURG WITH HUNDREDS OF RARE PHOTOS!

This almost impossible to find 7 x 9-3/4 inch, 540(!) pages hardcover book in very good condition was published by order of the SA Berlin leadership as a remembrance book of the so called "Kampfjahre" (fight years) of the S.A. in Berlin. Berlin was traditionally a strong-hold of the Communists and Socialists and the battles between brownshirts and their enemies were among the most intense con-frontations in the entire German Reich between 1918 and 1933. The book was written by SA-Obersturmbannführer J.K. von Engelbrech-ten, a member of the SA leadership in Berlin-Brandenburg. It was first published in 1937 by Zentralverlag der NSDAP Franz Eher, Nachf. in Munich. Offered here is a very nice copy of the second edition, published in 1940 in a number of only 5,000 copies which brought the total to 15,000 copies. This book describes the battle for Berlin like no other book that has been published before or after the publication of Eine Braune Armee entsteht! The author writes in his foreword that he had a hard time getting detailed information about the various SA Stürme (battalions) in and around Berlin because the brownshirts were not the best in writing statistics, their best skill was to fight on the streets until the Communists were rooted out in Berlin!

Wounded Stormtroopers in a Nazi hospital named "Rotes Haken-kreuz" instead of Rotes Kreuz (Red Swastika instead of Red Cross). Also Also shown is the first banner of the SA Berlin, awarded on the first Reich Party Day in Weimar in 1926.

March of the SA Standarte I, II and III through Berlin-Neukölln on September 22, 1929. They would have an interesting time today, there are now almost more Turks and Arabs than Germans living in this part of Berlin, almost 80 years after this picture was taken...!

SA Sturm 26 district Berlin - Kreuzberg

Pictures of today rare tinnies from SA meetings in Brandenburg in 1934 and the return of the SA Berlin from the Reich Party Days.
