We have asked several flag experts and museums and nobody has seen one of these in real life. This is a Norse Opfer Rune Banner (Offering Rune which is repeated three times).
In the Third Reich it represented self-sacrifice. The Opfer rune, like the Eif rune, is an inverted version of the Eiwaz rune. It was used by the WWI veterans' association, the "Stalhelm", which was eventually incorporated into the SA. The NSDAP used it as a symbol to commemorate the "sacrifice" of those who took part in the Hitler-led "Beer Hall Putsch" on November 9, 1923, and in particular, the sixteen "dead heroes" as Hitler called them in the dedication of the first volume of Mein Kampf. Banners such as this one (of various sizes) were draped along the streets only one time a year - on the anniversary of the putsch.
The banner is 58 inches wide and 108 inches tall. The top of the banner has a sleeve for a hanging rod. It has some fading and staining, otherwise good condition.
