WHEN HE ATTENDED THE 1934 PASSION PLAYS! ALSO IN THE ALBUM IS A HEINRICH HOFFMANN POSTCARD WITH HITLER'S AUTHENTIC SIGNATURE! FULL MONEY BACK GURANTEE FOR AUTHENTICITY

Offered for sale is an unique photo album and a Hoffmann photograph with Hitler’s authentic signature that once belonged to a then young actress who went to the Berchtesgaden and Oberammergau region to attend (as spectator or actress we don’t know) the well known Passions Plays, a play about the final days of Jesus Christ. Hitler attended in 1934 and it is said that he tried turning the Plays into a Nazi propaganda event. The actress must have had Hitler’s trust because she was able to take several distant pictures of Hitler at the play as well as one close up picture of Adolf Hitler at the plays with the actor who played Jesus in the background. The album goes on with pictures that were taken probably shortly after the plays at Hitler’s mountain residence on the Obersalzberg, the Berghof (in 1934 still called ‘Haus Wachenfeld’). Especially interesting are pictures that she took close and even right in front of Hitler, Rudlof Hess and Baldur von Schirach. One picture even is taken at the back door of the Berghof, to the best of our knowledge no other pictures are known to exist that were taken at this location, showing that the actress must have been entrusted.  One picture shows Hess, Von Schirach and Hitler standing as the crowds swarm past under close watch of the SS towards the famous Hotel zum Türken and past Hitlers view. The picture details the sign in front of Hitlers house, again no known picture was close enough to make out was written there. Another picture of Hitler is taken from point blanc range, he is grinning at the camera with a view of Hotel zum Türken in the background. From assessment of the pictures it is safe to state that the young German actress is entrusted to get close to him, this is the second occasion. It must be said that it was not easy to get near Adolf Hitler due not only to his extreme paranoia but the paranoia of the SS entrusted with protecting him. Later, in the 1940s, it was difficult to get close to the new complex on the site of Haus Wachenfeld, the Obersalzberg had turned from idyllic to a fortress, armed SS, check point system, tunnels and Flak guns would guard Hitler and the Third Reich’s elite, making it impossible for the crowds to see him spontaneously or to visit when it was not organized.

The signature – it was loose inside the album, displays a hand signature of Adolf Hitler in pencil which was common during the thirties simply because it did not blot or smudge, thus sticking better and was not susceptible to fading. It has been assessed by one of the leading authorities in the USA and has been dated it around 1933-1934, matching the year the pictures in the album were taken. The picture itself was commissioned by Hitler and taken by Heinrich Hoffmann his personal and entrusted state photographer, it displays Hitler as the new Reich Chancellor.

The album is full from cover to cover with original photographs, depicting  southern Bavaria, Königsee, Berchtesgaden and much more! The previous owner of the album and signature was the granddaughter of the original owner, a then young actress who visited (or perhaps even participated in?) the Passions Plays in Oberammergau as well as the Berghof (in 1934 still known as ‘Haus Wachenfeld’), Hitler’s mountain residence on the Obersalzberg. She sold this item to a militaria dealer after deciding not to burn it on finding it when her grandmother passed away. A client of ours bought the album and has now decided to part with it again.
