ORIGINAL ADOLF HITLER INK ON POSTCARD PAINTING

Leonding

Adolf Hitler. "Leonding." Ink on postcard. 3.4" X 5.4" One of the most unusual paintings in the Hitler oeuvre, it is believed that this postcard was created shortly after Hitler's beloved mother died in the family home. It is the only painting he ever did, as far as is now known, with a black sky. In fact, there are no other night scenes that Hitler ever painted although this may not be a portrait of the Leonding family residence so much as a rendering of Hitler's bleak and dismal view of the place without his mother present. One of the few paintings that reveal Hitler's interpersonal emotions. The work literally oozes despair and abject sadness. An emotionally charged and brilliant painting. Signed in the clouds over the house and labeled on the verso. Pencil notation "Hess" lower right.
