DEUTSCHE KUENSTLER UND DIE SS

(GERMAN ARTISTS AND THE SS)

THIS EXHIBITION TOOK PLACE LATE IN THE WAR IN BRESLAU (TODAY POLAND), THE REGION THAT WAS OVERRUN FIRST BY THE RUSSIAN RED ARMY, ONLY A FEW MONTHS LATER!

'Deutsche Künstler und die SS' was an art exhibition under the patronage of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler and the Ergänzungsamt des Hauptamtes der SS. The exhibition took place in Breslau in Lower Silesia which is Wroclaw in Poland today. Silesia and East Prussia were the first parts of Germany in the east that were overrun by the Soviet Red Army, but a few months prior to that Himmler decided to open an exhibition in this city, praising the heroism of his SS. 589 art pieces were on display and the Wilhelm Limpert Verlag published this 72 page exhibition catalog, containing 63 of the art pieces that were on display. Very few copies have survived. This copy is in very nice and complete condition, all pages are intact. The only imperfection is that something was attached to the front cover and then removed.
