Obersturmbannführer (Lt. Col.) Karl Adolf Eichmann (1906-1962)

After the "Wannsee Conference" in January 1942 in Berlin, his duties in the National Socialist regime became issues related to the Final Solution of the Jews in Europe. He assumed the leading role in coordinating the deportation of Jews from every corner of Europe to existing ghettos in occupied Poland and to concentration camps, such as Sobibor, Chelmno, Treblinka and Auschwitz-Birkenau. He was head of the Judenreferat in the Reichsicherheitshauptamt (RSHA) which was Abteilung IV in the Gestapo headquarters in Prinz-Albrecht-Strasse in Berlin.

additional Adolf Eichmann information:

Adolf Eichmann lived under the false name Ricardo Klement for ten years in Buenos Aires, Argentina until Israeli Mossad agents kidnapped him on May 11, 1960 and brought him to Israel.

In January 1942 Eichmann helped Heydrich organize the Wannsee Conference in Berlin during which Heydrich and Eichmann along with 15 Nazi bureaucrats planned the extermination of the entire Jewish population of Europe and the Soviet Union, estimated at 11 million persons.

He was found guilty on all counts, sentenced to death and hanged at Ramleh Prison, May 31, 1962.

A fellow Nazi reported that Eichmann once said "he would leap laughing into the grave because the feeling that he had five million people on his conscience would be for him a source of extraordinary satisfaction."

Stutthof was a Nazi German concentration camp completed on September 2, 1939 in a secluded, wet, and wooded area west of the small town of Stutthof (Sztutowo) in the former territory of the Free City of Danzig, 34 km east of the city of Danzig (Gdańsk). It was the first camp built outside of pre-Nazi German borders (those set in 1937) and the last camp liberated by the Allies, on May 9, 1945. More than 85,000 inmates died in the camp out of the 110,000 people who were deported there. The camp staff consisted of SS guards and after 1943, also of Ukrainian auxiliaries. As there is no return date on the document it looks like SS-Rottenführer Paul Wellnitz was transferred to Stutthof concentration camp by Eichmann and remained there. The Nuremberg Trials did not include staff of the Stutthof concentration camp. However, the Poles held four trials in Gdańsk against former guards and Kapos of Stutthof, charging them with crimes of war and crimes against humanity. Paul Wellnitz was sentenced to death on the second trial and executed on 10 October 1947.

This SS Sonderausweis (Special Permit) was issued to SS-Rtfr. Paul Wellnitz, who obviously also was member of Dienstelle IVb, the chamber of the RSHA under Adolf Eichmann that dealt with the 'Jewish Question'. This permit authorized him to travel to Stutthof concentration camp on 14 May 1943.

Adolf Eichmann stamped and signed this document on 9 May 1943 (exactly on the day two years before the camp was liberated!)

close up of the original Eichmann signature which matches up with all examples we have cross checked it with in reference books and online.
