VERY RARE AND UNUSUAL ORIGINAL 1938 NAZI CHILDREN BOOK

SCHREIBER'S STEHAUF-BILDERBUCH

DEUTSCHE SOLDATEN

Schreiber’s Stehauf-Bilderbücher was a series of six unusual children books with full color illustrations that unfold when opened, given a three-dimensional impression of the depicted scene. This is the most interesting volume of that series, depicting the Nazi Wehrmacht in action. The 9-1/8 x 5-7/8 inch book was published in 1938 by J.F. Schreiber Verlag in Esslingen, Germany. The book is marked D.R.G.M. on the bottom right corner of the cover. This stands for 'Reichsgebrauchsmuster’ and is basically a patent.
The book is made out of stiff cardboard-like material and contains four Wehrmacht scenes that appear three-dimensional when the book is opened. The first scene is entitled ‘Flussübergang’ and depicts the crossing of a river, followed by ‘Flieger-Abwehr’ showing a 88mm crew fighting enemy airplanes. The third scene is called ‘Infanterie-Angriff’ or Infantry Assault with a recon motorcycle and a burning house in the foreground. The fourth scene is entitled ‘Küstenbatterie’ and shows a coastal defense gun in action, firing at enemy ships. The text is entirely in Sütterlin, the old style German handwriting. The book is in very nice condition and definitely something that is rarely offered for sale.
