DAS REICHSSPORTFELD

A ONE OF A KIND BOOK WITH EXCELLENT PHOTOS AND TEXT IN GERMAN AND ENGLISH!

An excellent 8-1/2 x 12 inch,48 page soft cover book in very good condition by Dr. Gerhard Krause, published in 1936 by Reichssportverlag in Berlin. The book is full of photographs, showing the huge complex that was built for the 1936 Olympic Games with the Olympic Stadium in the center, the large May Field, Amphitheater, Bell Tower and Horsetrack to the west and south, the swim stadium and House of German Sports to the north, the monumental entrance field to the east. The stadium alone holds 80,000+ people and one can only imagine how many people flooded this huge complex during the 1936 Olympic Games! The architecture and layout are stunning and a must see for anyone who visits Berlin. Besides Tempelhof airport and the former Air State Ministry this is the only complex that survived the war pretty much unharmed! The text under the photos is in German and English.

a big restaurant was built at the southern edge of the complex. It still exists and is still in business today
