DIE BRENNESSEL

THE FIRST 1-1/2 YEARS OF THIS SOUGHT AFTER PUBLICATION IN EXCELLENT CONDITION

Offered for sale is a large book with bound issues of the very rare anti-Semitic NSDAP periodical ‘Die Brennessel’ with ALL issues of the first year of publication (1931) and the first 22 issues of the second year of publication (1932). They were first published every two weeks from October of 1931 weekly. The publisher was the NSDAP owned publishing house Franz Eher Nachf. In Munich. The heavily illustrated satirical periodicals with colorful covers had a very anti-Semitic, anti-Communist and anti-Weimar Republic content. The Nazis copied with this publication another satirical magazine, entitled ‘Simplicissimus’. The Brennessel was more radical but a little more mainstream than the crude anti-Semitism in Julius Streicher’s ‘Der Stürmer’ but the message was the same, only presented a little different to target the middle class. These are very rare and we have never come across ALL issues from the first 1-1/2 years of publication, bound and in such excellent condition. The ‘Brennessel’ was discontinued in December of 1938 and subscribers were then turned over to the ‘Simplicissimus’ that was still published. You will not be disappointed.
